Lesson 4 of 7
Designing a 4-week or 6-week challenge
Learning objectives
- Pick a challenge outcome that sells
- Build a 4- or 6-week structure your coaching can deliver
- Set entry/exit metrics that prove progress
- Use the challenge as the on-ramp to your monthly group
Why challenges work
Challenges sell because they are short, specific and measurable. '6-week strength reset', '4-week 5k builder', '6-week sustainable fat loss' beats 'online coaching available'. People can say yes to 4–6 weeks of focus when they cannot say yes to a long-term commitment.
A challenge is also the cleanest on-ramp to a monthly group — members who win the challenge convert into the membership at high rates.
A simple 4- or 6-week structure
Week 0: onboarding call + baseline metrics. Weeks 1–4 (or 1–6): one weekly live group call (5/10/20/5 format), an async programme, a weekly check-in, a community space, one weekly action (sleep, steps, hydration, protein).
Final week: re-test the baseline metrics, share wins, offer the next step (monthly group, 1:1 add-on, advanced challenge).
Entry / exit metrics that prove progress
Pick 2–3 metrics you can actually measure remotely: weight, waist, photos (optional, consent required), step count, a strength benchmark (e.g. push-ups in 60s, goblet squat reps at fixed load), a self-rated energy or confidence score (1–10).
Capture them in week 0, again in the final week, and use anonymised wins (with consent) as social proof for the next cohort.
Founder insight — Derrick Twum
Almost every MEM coach with a healthy monthly group started by running a single 4- or 6-week challenge as the entry product.
Key takeaway
A challenge is a short, measurable, marketable on-ramp — and the best path into your monthly group.
Reflection questions
- 1What is the one outcome your audience would happily pay for in 4–6 weeks?
- 2Which 2–3 metrics will you capture at start and end?
- 3What is the price that feels fair for the value delivered?
- 4What is the next step you will offer everyone who finishes?
Action task
Draft your first challenge: name, outcome, length, weekly structure, metrics, price, next step. One page.
