Lesson 6 of 6

Building a simple ecommerce dashboard

~9 min

Learning objectives

  • Pick the metrics that drive weekly decisions
  • Avoid data overwhelm
  • Spot drift before it becomes a crisis
  • Set up a 10-minute weekly review

Few metrics, used weekly

Drowning in dashboards is the same as having no dashboard. Pick a small set you'll actually read: visitors, CVR, orders, revenue, AOV, gross margin, ad spend, CPA, ROAS, email revenue share, returning customer rate, refund / return rate, net profit estimate, best- and worst-selling products.

The 10-minute weekly review

Same time, every week. Pull the numbers. Note the change. Decide one action for next week. Repeat. The discipline matters more than the spreadsheet.

Founder insight — Derrick Twum

The brands that compound are the ones that read their numbers weekly and act on one thing — not the ones with the prettiest dashboards.

Key takeaway

A simple weekly dashboard you actually use beats a beautiful one you never open.

Reflection questions

  1. 1When and where will your weekly review happen?
  2. 2Which metric do you keep avoiding?
  3. 3What action came out of last week's numbers?
