Lesson 6 of 6
Building a simple ecommerce dashboard
Learning objectives
- Pick the metrics that drive weekly decisions
- Avoid data overwhelm
- Spot drift before it becomes a crisis
- Set up a 10-minute weekly review
Few metrics, used weekly
Drowning in dashboards is the same as having no dashboard. Pick a small set you'll actually read: visitors, CVR, orders, revenue, AOV, gross margin, ad spend, CPA, ROAS, email revenue share, returning customer rate, refund / return rate, net profit estimate, best- and worst-selling products.
The 10-minute weekly review
Same time, every week. Pull the numbers. Note the change. Decide one action for next week. Repeat. The discipline matters more than the spreadsheet.
Founder insight — Derrick Twum
The brands that compound are the ones that read their numbers weekly and act on one thing — not the ones with the prettiest dashboards.
Key takeaway
A simple weekly dashboard you actually use beats a beautiful one you never open.
Reflection questions
- 1When and where will your weekly review happen?
- 2Which metric do you keep avoiding?
- 3What action came out of last week's numbers?
