Lesson 1 of 7
Why content is now part of the job
Learning objectives
- Understand why content has replaced cold outreach for most PTs
- See content as proof, not performance
- Reframe content as a sales asset, not a vanity exercise
- Commit to a realistic content rhythm you can sustain
Clients check you before they contact you
Almost every prospect now Googles a coach, checks their Instagram, reads their MEM profile or scrolls their TikTok before making contact. If there is nothing there, or the content is inconsistent, the prospect moves on. Content has become the new shop window.
This does not mean you have to become an influencer. It means your content has to do one job: make the right person think "this coach gets me" within 30 seconds.
Proof, not performance
Most PTs freeze on camera because they think content is a performance. It is not. Strong PT content is proof: proof you understand the client, proof you can deliver results, proof you can be trusted, proof you are still showing up.
When the goal is proof instead of performance, content becomes much easier to plan and create.
Consistency beats virality
One viral post will not build a sustainable business. Showing up consistently for 6, 12, 24 months will. The PTs winning on content are rarely the most talented at video — they are the most consistent.
A realistic rhythm (e.g. 3 posts a week, one short video, one carousel, one story) compounds over time. Choose a rhythm you can hold without burning out.
Founder insight — Derrick Twum
MEM's growth was not built on viral moments. It was built on Derrick showing up consistently, in person and online, with the same message and the same mission — until people started to recognise it.
Key takeaway
Content is proof, not performance. Pick a rhythm you can sustain and use it to make the right clients trust you.
Reflection questions
- 1What does a prospect see if they Google you or check your profile today?
- 2Are you treating content as a performance or as proof?
- 3What content rhythm could you realistically sustain for 90 days?
- 4Which platform actually matters most for your niche?
Action task
Audit your current public presence (MEM profile, Instagram, TikTok, website). Score it 1–10 on clarity, consistency and proof.
