Lesson 1 of 9

Why organisations need trusted fitness coaches

~8 min

Learning objectives

  • Understand the buyer in schools, charities, councils and employers
  • See why most organisations struggle to find reliable coaches
  • Position yourself as a fitness leader, not a gig instructor
  • Identify the 3 local organisations you are best placed to serve

The gap most organisations sit in

Schools, councils, charities, youth services, GP practices and employers all have a wellbeing brief — and almost none have the in-house staff to deliver it. They rely on freelance coaches, but most freelancers don't show up with safeguarding, insurance, attendance tracking and evidence of outcomes.

Being the coach who already has those pieces in place is the entire job. The fitness is the easy part.

Who actually buys

Schools: head of PE, head of pastoral, business manager. Charities: programme manager, CEO of small charity. Councils: public health lead, leisure commissioning. Youth services: youth lead, community sport officer. Employers: HR, wellbeing lead, office manager.

Different titles, same brief: 'I need a trustworthy adult who can run safe, well-evidenced fitness sessions and not make me chase paperwork.'

Lead with reliability, not credentials

Organisations don't choose the most qualified coach — they choose the one who replies fastest, has documentation ready and turns up on time for 8 weeks running. Build for that.

Founder insight — Derrick Twum

The coaches who break into community delivery aren't the loudest on social — they're the ones who can email a DBS, insurance certificate and risk assessment back inside 24 hours.

Key takeaway

Organisations buy reliable, well-documented coaches. The fitness is the easy part.
