Lesson 7 of 8
Ad creatives that don't feel like ads
Learning objectives
- Decide if and when paid ads make sense for you
- Write ad copy that matches your organic voice
- Design 3 creative angles to test on a small budget
- Avoid the 'set fire to £500' beginner mistake
Ads amplify a working funnel — they don't fix a broken one
Run ads only when (a) your offer is clear, (b) your profile/sales page converts organic traffic, and (c) you can answer enquiries within 24h. Otherwise ads just speed up your losses.
3 angles, small budget
Pick the smallest budget you'd genuinely learn from (£5–10/day for a week). Run 3 creative angles against the same offer: problem/agitate, transformation story, behind-the-scenes session. Kill the weakest, double the winner.
Copy that matches your voice
Don't suddenly sound like a corporate brand because money is involved. Use the same tone as your best organic post. Lead with the client problem, not your credentials.
Founder insight — Derrick Twum
The PTs we see win on ads are the ones who already converted 5 organic enquiries that month. Ads compound what's working — they don't create what isn't.
Key takeaway
Only amplify a funnel that already converts organically. Test 3 angles. Cut fast.
Reflection questions
- 1Is your organic funnel actually converting right now?
- 2What's the smallest budget you'd genuinely learn from?
- 3Which 3 angles would you test first?
- 4Who handles the enquiries when the volume goes up?
Action task
Decide if you are running ads in the next 30 days. If yes, draft your 3 creative angles. If no, write a one-line reason and revisit in 90 days.
